Steve Jenkins, Ph.D.

Department Chair & Student Advisor

Brightwater Department Chair and Student Advisor Steve Jenkins is originally from Fayetteville, Ark., and went to high school in Rome, Italy where he fell in love with food. He developed a love for the flavors of Italian cuisine as well as the central role that food plays in Italian culture and life.

Steve's work history includes being a marketing consultant, chef, business owner, assistant professor and program director.

He took the opportunity to join Brightwater in 2017 because of its unique philosophy in teaching culinary arts and its beautiful facilities. He says that although Brightwater's facilities are nice and the kitchens are fun to teach in, learning students' professional goals and helping them along their path is the most rewarding aspect.

During his free time, Steve enjoys reading, bicycling, camping and canoeing.
